Columbia River DB/WR Rob Caballero is the West's loan player who played in the All State game in June.High School football is underway in Clark County.

Well for 2 teams of the areas best seniors it is.

The annual Shriner’s Freedom Bowl Classic will be played this Saturday at Kiggins Bowl in Vancouver at 7:30 pm and practice began for both the East and the West teams Monday.

The game will be a contrast in coaching styles. You could call it the East running the West Coast Offense and the West running East Coast smash mouth football, or the old coach running the a new style offense and the new coach running an old style of offense.

Jon Eagle, aka, the old coach has been coaching football in Clark County since the mid 80′s and will have his East team spread out and tossing the ball around. Mountain View quarterback Cameron Pape will be taking snaps from the shotgun and looking to get the ball in the hands of All-State game participants Ashton Clark and Guy Varsek.

Cal Szueber, aka, the new coach is not really a new coach at all, but since he is new to Clark County and it fits for me, that is what we will call him. Coach Cal will be running his Fort Vancouver offense, the double wing, Saturday. The double wing is not only a run offense as it does have plenty of pass plays in the play book, however I would just not expect many. Columbia River quarterback Mike Ortegon will step under center for the game and even lead block for his deep stable of running backs including teammates Rob Caballero (another All-State game participants) and Chris Burgess.

Both teams will be practicing the rest of the week leading up to Saturdays game at Kiggins. For more information on the game please visit www.freedombowlclassic.org

Nice write up. But it is Mike ORTEGON. This game should be fun to watch the seniors lace it up one more time.
