What was your most memorable moment playing high school football?

Lonnie – My most memorable moment from high school would have to be playing in the state championship and winning it. It was a great accomplishment for our team, school and Clark County. We were the first team to ever win a state championship in Clark County, so it was just great to be a part of the experience and a part of the team who worked so hard to achieve the goal and dream of winning a state championship.

Did you have any game day/game time rituals in high school? If so, what were they?

Lonnie – I love listening to music before games. I don’t really have a specific song or set of songs I listened to each game day, just whatever I was feeling that day. Music is something that hypes me up as well as keeps my on a level ground as far as preparing for the game.

Who influenced you the most as a High School football player?

the biggest influence would have to be my family. my dad and mom always pushed me to strive for my goals

Lonnie – I always loved watching Reggie Bush play in college. He is a very explosive player and influenced me to do some of the thing I tried out on the field. The biggest influence would have to be my family. My dad and mom always pushed me to strive for my goals as well did seeing my younger brothers look up to me to be a great example as an athlete being that they are athletes as well.

What was your favorite TV show in high school?

ESPN Sports Center stays on my TV.

How many different positions did you play from youth football through the end of your HS career? If you could have chosen another position other than corner, what would have it been?

Lonnie – It’s actually pretty wild to look back at my career as a football player. I never played youth football and really didn’t start playing football on a real serious level until my senior year of high school at Evergreen. I played freshman and JV football at Berkeley High School in Berkeley California but didn’t really learn much about the game and how to play it until my senior year of high school. I played quarterback on my freshman team in high school and a little on our JV team but mostly running back. When I reached Evergreen I played slot receiver and got a few snaps at running back on trick plays. If I could have played any other position besides corner back which I love to play, it teaches you great discipline, I would have to say running back or wide receiver. I think I have pretty good hands and feet and could be affective at those positions.

What would you tell young kids entering high school is the most important thing (besides school) they need to do to become an elite level player?

Lonnie – Your work ethic is the most important thing any kid can have and I believe it starts at home with your parent then carries over as you hit the class room as well and your drive to be the best athlete you can be. If you can build those things in yourself and make them consistent, you have a great chance to be an elite athlete and go very far in your career as an athlete.

Xbox, PS3, or Wii? What is your favorite game?

xbox360 and I love the Madden and NCAA series of games. Me and my teammates get really into those games in our spare time.

Do you have an iPhone?

Lonnie – No I have to Google phone. I love it.

What was your most embarrassing moment playing high school football?

Lonnie – I believe this moment is on our highlight tape, but it was a play against Mountain View high school where there tight end caught a pass in the flats and I tried to hit him high and I bounced off of him. Lucky for me I was able to still come back and make the tackle on the play.

Explain your recruiting process. How many schools did you visit? Did anything interesting happen during this process?

Lonnie – Well I only took a visit to Eastern. I didn’t have many offers out of high school, so I took it as this is the place I was suppose to be and it has worked out very well and I have met some of the best people in the world. The most interesting thing that could happen to anyone I believe on a visit happen to me. I got sick when I reached Cheney and was sick for the entire trip, but it was still a great experience and had a good time.

What was your most memorable moment (so far) playing college football?

I never played youth football and really didn’t start playing football on a real serious level until my senior year of high school at Evergreen.

Lonnie – My most memorable moment would have to be my first start as a Division-1 athlete against Montana Western it was the beginning to a great career here at Eastern and I learned a lot about the game of football on the college level from the one game.

Do you have any game day/game time rituals in college? If so, what were they?

Lonnie – We always eat breakfast or pregame meal as a team then we head to locker room to relax and watch the early morning games they may be on. I just sit back in my locker and listen to music and watched the games. I always have to remember to say a prayer before each game. God has given me the ability and the opportunity to play this game I love and cherish. I give him all the praise for the opportunities in front of me.

Who influenced you the most as a college football player?

Lonnie – My parents and family have always been the biggest influences in my life they keep my ground and on a straight forward path and it always keeps me working hard on the field to make plays for nit only my team, but my family who believes in me.

Explain a typical week during football season with class, practice, game, other time.

Lonnie – I wake up around 5:45 to get ready for weight lifting at 6:30am from there I go home to eat breakfast and get ready for class from class there is usually position meeting and film session. After we head out to practice. From practice we eat dinner and head back for night meeting and more film from there its time for homework and bed. A full day and a hard days work.

Compare your relationship with your high school teammates to that of your college teammates. Assuming that you grew up with most of your high school teammates for years prior to playing together with them, and your college teammates came from all over the country.

Lonnie – My relationships are a lot more close knit with my college teammates than my high school teammates. I was in Vancouver for two years before moving on to college I have grown to know the teammates in college a lot more on a personal level which makes us a lot closer, even though I enjoyed each and every teammate from high school and we were a great team it’s a lot closer to my heart with my college teammates than high school. These guys here at Eastern are like family to me. I would give the shirt off my back for these guys and they would do the same for me.

What was your most embarrassing moment playing college football?

Lonnie – It would have to be my freshman year when we were doing installation of the defense and I was not paying attention and I got chewed out by our d- coordinator. It was a humbling experience, as well as an ice breaker for my career here and has set me up and made me a more focused athlete.

Who is your favorite musical artist?

Lonnie – Rap artist would have to be Jay-Z the king of rap. Musiq Soulchild for r&b, but I love gospel music which is my up bringing and foundation of life. Tye tribbett and GA run my gospel music world.

What is your favorite TV show now?

Lonnie – ESPN Sports Center is still my all time favorite, but CSI Miami is coming in a close second.

Do you prefer Madden or NCAA? Why?

Lonnie – Depends on the year. Madden has always been there for me but NCAA is taken on the game system world.

How much college football do you get to watch during the season? (not counting film sessions)

Lonnie – Just a little. I worry a lot about my games and situations that we may have to install in the game plan or defensive scheme.
