Experts Picks – 2009 Playoffs, Finals. All 4A, 3A and 2A Games
We run the site, so in our book, that makes us experts! In Week 13 Bryan and Mike both went 2-4. We both missed on Ferris, Liberty and Bellevue. Oops! Skyview lost by 5 points and gave up 13 points in the final 22 seconds of the first half on the road at Ferris. Lakes was leading 14-0 over Liberty heading into the 4th quarter before losing. Union did not allow an offensive TD and still lost 19-13 to Bellevue. 3 games that could have easily gone our way. On the 2 games we were split on, both of the 2A games, Mike picked West Valley to top #1 Ellensburg, and Bryan picked Lynden to avenge a week 1 loss to Archbishop Murphy. We both picked Skyline to beat Bothell and thanks to a 31-26 win by the Spartans at least we both looked smart in 1 game. Bryan is now 108-36 (75%) and Mike is 104-40 (72%).
This week we picking all of the 4A, 3A and 2A Finals.
If you think you know better than we do, then simply leave a comment below with your 3 winners.
Game
Bryan (106-32)
Mike (102-36)
Notes on the game.
4A
Ferris (10-3) vs Skyline (11-2)

Skyline is going for their 3rd state championship in a row. They won the 3A title in 2007 42-35 over O’Dea, then the 4A title last year 20-15 over Issaquah. Skyline also won the 3A title in 2000 42-30 over Lakes, the 4A title in 2005 35-21 over Woodinville and lost in 2004 28-14 to Evergreen. Ferris will be playing in their first ever state title game.
Jake Heaps of Skyline is the top rated QB in the Nation by scout.com and has commited to BYU. Heaps threw for 221 yards and 2 TD’s in last weeks 31-26 win over #1 Bothell. Heaps has 2936 yards passing and 41 TD’s on the Season.
Ferris QB Connor Halliday is the second highest rated QB in the state and has already commited to WSU. Halliday threw for 295 yards and 4 TD in last weeks 46-41 win over Skyview. Halliday has 3781 yards passing and 38 TD on the season.
3A
Liberty (12-1) vs Bellevue (11-2)

Bellevue is looking to become back-to-back 3A state champions as they take on fellow 3A KingCo rivals Liberty. The Wolverines won 3A state in 2001, 2002, 2003, 2004, 2006, and 2008. They also won the 4A back in 1983. Liberty last won state back in 1988 with a 31-0 win over Cheney. The Patriots lost to Bellevue last season 35-7 in the Quarterfinals.
Bellevue defeated Liberty 27-21 back in week 8.
The Patriots trailed #1 Lakes 14-0 in the 4th quarter last week before scoing 17 unanswered points in the final period to advance with a 17-14 win.
Bellevue was held w/o an offensive TD by Union last week and had to abandon their signature Wing-T offense, but 3 lost fumbles by Union QB led to a 19-13 win for the Wolverines.
2A
West Valley (Spokane) (13-0) vs Lynden (12-1)

The Lynden Lions are looking also to win back-to-back 2A state titles. Lynden trailed Prosser 21-6 with 2:22 left in regulation last year only to come back and force OT. The Lions went on to win 35-34 in 2OT for their 4th football state championship. West Valley (Spokane) last won a playoff game 22 years ago with a 19-0 First Round win over Hanford. The Eagles last played for a championship in 1984 and lost to Olympia 28-14. Their only title came in 1976 with a 30-21 win over Hoquiam.
Lynden QB Jordan Hastings ran for 100 yards and a TD and threw for 91 yards and 3 TD in the Lions 38-14 win over Archbishop Murchpy last week.
West Valley defeated #1 Ellensburg 24-17 last week in Spokane.
