R.A. Long WR/DB J Nusbaum Gives Verbal To Montana State University Northern
Fresh off of leading the R.A. Long Lumberjacks to the school’s first football post season in school history, stand out WR/DB J Nusbaum has committed to play football at Montana State University Northern.J led the Jacks to a second place finish in the 2A GSHL in 2009 with his 6 receiving TD’s and 6 INT’s along with 4 blocked kicks.
He was a 2009 2A GSHL Coaches All-League First Team selection at both DB and PR as well as First Team All-State selection at DB and honorable mention at WR.
Mountain View TE/DE Zach Chapman Gives Verbal To Eastern Washington
Mountain View Thunder Zach Chapman was offered a scholarship to play football at Eastern Washington as a TE, and early this week he gave a verbal commit to play for the Eagles.Chapman will resshirt in 2010 allowing him to play through the 2014 season. Former Evergreen DE Ashton Miller took a similar path last season at Eastern using his redshirt for the 2009 season. Lonnie Hosley Jr, also a former Plainsmen also took a redshirt at Eastern in 2005 and just finished his career following the 2009 season.
Zach was a 2009 4A GSHL Coaches All-League First Team selection at DE as well 2009 GSHL All Level All-Star.
Union Titans WR Mitch Saylor Gives Verbal To Montana Grizzlies
Union Titans stand out Wide Receiver Mitch Saylor has given a verbal commitment to the University of Montana to accept a football scholarship. According to Union’s head football coach Cale Piland Mitch gave a verbal on Wednesday (January 27, 2010) and is taking his official visit tomorrow.Fans of the Grizzlies are excited about the addition of Saylor to their already talented team. One UM message board has the following quotes:
- “He is HUGE! looks like he has good speed too…. more time in the weight room and doing speed work and he could develop into a nightmare to cover at WR or TE”
- “I can’t remember when we had a good, really tall WR; think about the fades to the corner with this guy! He looks like he could play right away next year.”
- “Wow, how often do you see a 6’6″ guy returning punts and kicks. That says something about his competitive nature.”
- “And good balance and lateral mobility. Hard to believe this guy slips by the PAC10, MWC and WAC scouts.”

Heritage QB Garrett Grayson Gives Verbal To Colorado State
Local stand out QB Garrett Grayson of Heritage has given a verbal commitment to Colorado State to play football for the Rams of the Mountain West Conference.Grayson would greyshirt at CSU meaning he would enroll in school but would not be a freshman until the 2011 football season.
The Rams finished 3-9 in 2009 and went 0-8 in league play. Colorado State has only had 3 winning seasons since 2002 and last won more than 7 games in 2002 when they finished 10-4 loosing 17-3 to Texas Christian in the Liberty Bowl.
