Columbia River OL Cody Gilder Sign's LOI With Simon Fraser University (Head Coach John O'Rourke Celebrates With Cody)

Columbia River has had an abundant amount of success under head coach John O’Rourke.

O’Rourke has had success both on the field and in preparing his players to advance to the next level to play college football.

The 2009 Chieftains advanced to the first round of the WIAA state playoffs before loosing to undefeated Meadowdale on the road. A big part of this seasons success was the play of Offensive Lineman Cody Gilder. Gilder celebrated his acceptance of a football  scholarship to Simon Fraser University Monday night at Columbia River High School in front of family and friends.

Gilder is the 55th football player to accept a football scholarship under coach O’Rourke’s tenure at Columbia River.

Simon Fraser University is in Vancouver BC, and will be a D2 school playing in the Great Northwest Athletic Conference starting the 2010 football season. Central Washington and Western Oregon are among the schools who play football in the GNAC.

Shane Brady and Trevor Hurn Sign LOI's With Southern Oregon University (Head Coach Mark Greenleaf Celebrates With His Players)

Woodland’s All-League combination of QB Trevor Hurn and WR Shane Brady will continue their success at the next level. Hurn and Brady signed Letter’s of Intent on Tuesday at Woodland High School to attend Southern Oregon University.

Woodland went 28-12 with 4 post season appearances while the two played for the Beavers.

Trevor Hurn was 2nd team 2A GSHL Coaches All-League in 2008 and 2A GSHL Coaches Offensive Player of the Year in 2009.

Shane Brady was 2A GSHL Coaches All-League WR in both 2008 & 2009.
