Poll Question: Which 3A GSHL Non-League Game Are You Most Excited To Watch This Season?
The 2011 Greater St. Helens League football season starts in less than 6 weeks.
We just released the full 3A GSHL schedule, 2011 3A GSHL Football Schedules, with comments on all 63 games. We also gave you our Top 10 Must See 2011 3A GSHL Football Games. 6 of the 10 games, as well as Timberline at Camas (probably should be in the top 10) were non-league games. Of the 4 league games that cracked the top-10, 2 are Kelso home games. The Hilanders will host the defending 3A champion Papermakers in week 9 and host Columbia River in week 2. Both games will have a lot of weight in the 3A standings. Hudson’s Bay and Fort Vancouver both have new head coaches (Eric Ollikainen at Fort and Mike Funderburg at Bay) and the battle for the peace pipe is always intense. Then, of course, we have the big Mountain View at Camas week 2 game, which came in at #1. No other 3A schools could touch the Papermakers and Thunder in 2010,and that could well be the case again in 2011.
But what about the other 7 games? We were wondering what you thought.
So we ask…

The Timberwolves look to have key games versus both Battle Ground and Evergreen which should both have post season implications. Then, of course, we have the big Union at Skyview week 9 game, which came in at #1.

Dax McCoy Of Mark Morris Wins Xenith X1 Helmet Thanks To Facebook Likes

This photo of Mark Morris Senior WR/DB Dax McCoy received 352 Facebook LIKES, 25 more than the 2nd place finisher
If you have a Facebook account, and who doesn’t, then you know to avoid posts that tell you you can win something for free.
Well, it appears that some things in life are free. And thanks to Facebook and Xenith one local high school football player now has a fancy new helmet.
While attending the Nike SPARQ Combine at Tigard High School in June, Dax McCoy, a Senior WR/DB from Mark Morris took a few minutes to pose for a picture in a Xenith helmet (see the photo on Facebook). Then, he headed up North to put the word to the street.
“They asked me if I liked what I saw and if I wanted one,” said McCoy about the Xenith helmet display. “I said ‘Heck yes I do!”.
The rules of the contest were for each player to find their photo on the Xenith Facebook page, and get as many people to like it as possible.
“It doesn’t matter who likes it, it could be your mom or Lil Wayne,” McCoy added. “Just get likes.”
Before anyone could like the photo, they first needed to like the Xenith Facebook page, something McCoy had mixed feelings about.
“It’s kind of cheesy but you know, it’s their rules. It’s a brilliant marketing trick.”
McCoy’s photo ended the contest with 352 likes, 25 more than the second place athlete who had 327.
“I was so pumped when it got down to the last 30 minutes because Rayshawn quit trying and I knew I was going to win,” said McCoy. “I was so happy I started jumpin’ around my room and called all my friends. It was awesome!”
On July 16, Dax held a party to celebrate winning his new helmet and to show his thanks to all who helped him win it.

This will be a small camp by design with a ton of one-on-one’s. Come out guys and trust that we will deliver. I hope you guys all know I will deliver.”
We will be out at this camp as well and hope to see plenty of Greater St. Helens League players showing off their stuff.
“These Northwest camps will be the last of the year,” Knudsen continued. “If your going into 8th grade through 12th grade then we want you here. But Space is Limited. You will want to attend and get the Max Media Exposure as well as we expect most major Networks like Rivals, Scout, ESPN Rise, and Max Preps to be in attendance.”
The 5 Star Performance Camp has already been to Texas, California and Louisiana. Along with the July 29th camp at Aloha High School, there will also be one final stop at Auburn Mountainview High School in Auburn Washington on July 31st.
