Following their amazing 21-14 WIAA State Quarterfinals win over #2 Ferndale, the #4 Union Titans (12-0) will now travel north to face the #3 Lakes Lancers (12-0) at The Tacoma Dome.

Lakes advanced to the WIAA State Semifinals following their 18-14 win over #5 Eastside Catholic Friday night.

Union’s game will be at 7 pm Friday night (day after Thanksgiving) at The Tacoma Dome in Tacoma. Tacoma may seem like a long drive, but it really is not that bad. The “Dome” is right off I-5 and it is only about 140 miles from Union High School, or just over 2 hrs for the drive. In our opinion this game is a must see for any football fan from Clark County.

Evergreen High School had to go east (Pasco and Spokane) for the Semi’s in ’03 and ’04. Not since 2002, when both Columbia River and Mountain View had Semifinals games in Tacoma, has Clark County had a “final four” game on our half of the state.

The Union Titans Football booster club is planning another tailgate party for the game. We will let you know the details as soon as they have been worked out.

Admission prices cover the whole day and will be*:

  • $9 Adults
  • $7 Student
  • $7 Senior Citizen

If for some reason you can’t make it to the game, you will have two ways to follow along with the action:

  • Carl Click will once again be on the air, broadcasting the game LIVE at www.carlclick.com with pre-game starting at 6:45.
  • Our site will once again provide LIVE Twitter updates from the game. You can watch the home page for updated action starting at 7 pm, or go to www.twitter.com/gshlfootball and sign up to follow our tweets.

For those of you not doing Black Friday shopping on the 28th, the #10 Capital (9-3) vs #1 Bellevue (12-0) game starts at 1 pm. Again the tickets cover the whole day, so you could watch both games for under $10 dollars.

*Seniors 62 and over admitted at the student rate. Student rates are for children under the age of 12 and for students 12 and over with a high school or middle school ASB card.  Children under the age of 5 are admitted free.

Sorry Tony but all we heard all last week was about Eastside Catholic being a team of “destiny”. I’m sure the Titans are good but they will come up short in this game.

LOOK AT IT THIS WAY LAKES LANCERS, AT LEAST YOU WILL NOT HAVE TO DRIVE A TOTAL OF ALMOST 9 HOURS AFTER YOU ARE DEFEATED BY THE UNION TITANS LIKE FERNDALE DID!!!

THE UNION TITANS WILL WIN STATE IN 2008!!!

DAMN, THAT SURE DOES HAVE A NICE RING TO IT DOESN’T IT?

ESPECIALLY SINCE THIS IS ONLY THE SECOND YEAR OF THE TITANS EXISTENCE!!!

From Seattle Times article: (See, i’m not the only one that thought Ferdnale was tops in state)

“…So Ferndale, the team [Bellevue Head Coach] Goncharoff thought was the top team in the state for most of the year, dropped out of the running. Who’s left to challenge the Wolverines, who have not gone more than two years without a title since 2001?

Is it Union (12-0), which is only in its second year? After going through the Greater St. Helens League undefeated, the fourth-ranked Titans certainly made a case with their win against Ferndale, especially by stopping Ferndale’s running game in the second half.

Is it Lakes (12-0)? Remember, the Lancers’ year was supposed to be last year, when they had seven college prospects and two future Huskies. But Lakes ran into eventual champion Skyline in the round of 16. This year’s Lancers have one of the state’s youngest teams but also has one of the top running games. If Union finds a way to hold down juniors Jamaal Kearse and Teddy Cotton, the Titans will be the first team to do so…..”

More on Bellevue in the Seattle Times….

…”Teams just aren’t used to the speed that they play at,” said Liberty coach Steve Valach, whose team lost 35-7 and 24-7 to Bellevue this season. “If you haven’t played them before, it may take you a whole game. They are incredibly well-coached. No one plays harder and more disciplined.”

I’ve heard a lot of garbage and smack talk from ferndale last game but we BEAT them!!!!!!! Union is an amazing team and they will go all the way. mitch saylor is amazing at what he does and so is the rest of the football team they all play really hard to beat the best of the best but i think union will win the semi-finals and go to state because we have hard workers that never quit at anything and thats what a true football team needs. “Quiters never win, and winners never quit”. like they say on the internet” Titans were creatures that were even greater then the gods and ruled the world”.

    Go U

XCRAVE..any fan is going to say what you said about their school. Do you really think that Lakes, Bellevue, and Capital don’t work as hard as Union? All of these kids work their butts (including the schools that are no longer playing). I understand your passion for Union but don’t sell the other schools short.

I have to say that I cannot disagree with anything Lake Lancer has said in any of his posts so far. What a refreshing change from all the jokers last week.

  12. Union on November 25th, 2008 6:19 pm

Yeah. I do think they work as hard. In fact i almost guarantee it. Come to a week of union football practice and tell me what you think

  13. Union on November 25th, 2008 6:19 pm

    DONT* work as hard

  14. Lake Lancer 24 on November 25th, 2008 6:21 pm

knute…Thanks for the support! Although I am rooting for Lakes, I am a FOOTBALL fan first. I will ALWAYS acknowledge the accomplishments of all of these kids for every school.

I have a question…Since Union is only a 2 year old school, where did these kids previously go to school before Union opened?

Heritage, Mt View and Evergreen High School. The sophomores playing varsity obviously went to the local middle schools.

THere’s basically only been only one Lakes fan posting in here, as opposed to several last week for Ferndale. Kind of interesting.

  18. Lake Lancer 24 on November 25th, 2008 8:43 pm

Michael H…I find it interesting also. I post on the Seattle Times forum and it seems I’m the only Lakes fan there as well. I only came across this board from a link on the Times forum. Perhaps nobody in Lakewood reads the Seattle papers except for me…lol

    Well;
    Union is the best.
have you heard our fight song?
    ‘on to victory’
what have we done? WE HAVE VICTORY!
we will crush Lakes today and we will win with flying colors.
    Have a nice day!
    GO U!

My hats off to Lakes for making it to the quarterfinal. To all the Bellvue players and parents, godspeed for your recovery of the terrible experience you went through today. From the players and parents of UNION TITANS. Looking foward to the game.

Got something to say?
