While the Skyview football team prepares to play in the state championship game, the rest of the school is getting prepared to follow the Storm to glory.

“The buzz is everywhere. Everyone is proud to be a cloud,” said junior Brad Usselman, the student body vice president. “Everyone is talking about it: ‘Who ya going to the game with?’ They want Saturday to be here now. It’s like we’ve been waiting years and years.”

Proud to be a cloud.

Skyview students, teachers, and administrators love finding new terms of affection for the Storm.

Skyview takes on Skyline — a battle for Washington’s Sky — on Saturday in the Class 4A state championship game. Kickoff is 7:30 p.m. at Tacoma Dome.

Prior to his team’s state semifinal football game Saturday evening, Skyview defensive lineman Anthony Chamberlain asked me to come find him after the contest.

Moments after Skyview’s victory over Lake Stevens, I made my way down to the Tacoma Dome field. Chamberlain and his teammates were busy celebrating with their fans.

He noticed me, walked over, and this is what he had to say:

“I told Parker from the get-go, we’re going to get him a ring. We’re on that path. We’ve got one more game to do it.”

Parker is Parker Henry, the Class 4A Greater St. Helens League offensive player of the year and the leading rusher in all of Class 4A Washington football.

Riley Bockmier stood before his teammates prior to a playoff game a few weeks back to deliver a message from the heart.

“I was told I’d never play again — twice — and I’m here,” Bockmier said.

He is here, with his Skyview teammates, preparing to play in the Class 4A state championship football game. The Storm take on Skyline of Sammamish at 7:30 p.m. Saturday in the Tacoma Dome.

A defensive lineman, Bockmier did not need to remind his teammates of all he had endured to play his senior year. They know of his two knee surgeries and the initial diagnosis that his playing days were finished.

So instead, he expressed to his teammates that the only way for him to honor his work and commitment to returning to football was to play each play like it could be his last.

Bryan just alittle tidbit, Chad Chalich QB for Coeu d’ Alene led his team to State Title this year along with being named Gatorade Player of the Year for Idaho. Now if Skyview can hold up their end, I am sure Skyview would love another opportunity aganist them it’s the only game on the schedule were I felt they were overmatched team wise. Have a safe trip boys watch those turnovers. http://www.espnnorthwest.com
