Evergreen Football Players & Cheerleaders Clean Up McKenzie Stadium Forest
June 13, 2009
The Evergreen Plainsmen football players and cheerleaders along with coaches, family members and other locals spend all day Saturday cleaning up the forest east of McKenzie Stadium.
Anyone who has been to watch a football game at McKenzie Stadium knows just how beautiful the setting is. A very nice stadium surrounded by a mini thick forest. Well that mini forest was getting just a bit too thick, and full of a lot of garbage.
The Evergreen Plainsmen decided to do something about it. Over 80 people spent from 9 am until 7 pm cleaning up garbage then clearing out the underbrush of the forest. An estimated 60 bags of garbage were hauled out of the trees and too many branches were cut down then dragged up the hill to a wood chipper to be counted. At the end of the day the softball field could be seen from the top of the hill for the first time in maybe forever. Hopefully the area is a lot more safe today thanks to all the hard work from the Evergreen Football family.
