Explosive Plainsmen Calm Storm 41-17

Written by Bryan Levesque on October 16, 2008

The Evergreen Plainsmen took a 14-10 lead into the half at Kiggins Bowl versus the host Skyview Storm. Then the fireworks began, as the Plainsmen scored 21 answered points to take the 35-10 lead. Kyrell Hudson hauled in two passes from QB Marvin Thomas, and Thomas ran one in himself. Skyview managed another TD in the 4th quarter, when QB Austin Dodge hit WR Ellis Henderson from 4 yards out, but the damage had been done. Evergreen then scored on a 4th down from their own 27 as Kyrell Hudson took a reverse to end the scoring and give Evergreen the much needed 41-17 win.

With the win, the Plainsmen improve to 4-3 and 2-1 in the GSHL 4A. Skyview is now also 2-1 in league and 5-2 overall. The Heritage Timberwolves move into first place at 2-0 in league, 3-3 overall as they will host Kelso Friday at McKenzie. Only 2 schools will make the round of 32 playoffs out of the GSHL 4A this season, had Evergreen lost and fell to 0-2 with losses to Skyiew and Heritage, they would have all but eliminated themselves. However, that did not happen, and now Evergreen is back in control of their play-off future.

Evergreen will host Battle Ground (1-5 0-2) next Thursday at McKenzie while Skyview travels to play the Kelso Highlanders (3-3 0-2).
