Game Recap – Heritage 34 Evergreen 12

Written by Bryan Levesque on October 29, 2011

Not wanting to play in a Kansas Tie-breaker this monday, Heriage went to WR E’Lon Mack early and often to put away winless Evergreen on their way to a 34-12 victory. The Sophomore WR caught 3 touchdown passes in the first half on plays of 13, 87 and 29 yards. All three touchdowns were thrown by QB Joey Cooper. Mack finished the game with 6 catches for 144 yards. Anthony Thomas was back on the field for the Plainsmen and threw a pair of second half touchdowns. Thomas finished the game with 114 passing yards. Heritage locked up the 4A GSHL’s third and final playoff spot with the win, avoiding a three-way tie with Evergreen and Battle Ground.

Heritage improves their record to 3-6 on the season and 2-2 in league play with the win. The Timberwolves will travel to Lake Stevens (9-0) Saturday, time TBD in the preliminary round of the WIAA State Playoffs. Evergreen falls to 0-9 on the season and 0-4 in league play with the loss. The Plainsmen season is over.
