Game Recap – Hockinson 29 Woodland 19

After playing to a scoreless first quarter, the visiting Hockinson Hawks jumped out to a 13-0 lead in the econd quarter on a pair of Josiah Niemela rushing touchdowns. Woodland however answered back and tied the game at 13 before the half on a pair of Cy Whitmire rushing touchdowns. The score remained tied at 13-13 for much of the third quarter until a botched punt resulted in a safety for Hockinson and a 15-13 lead. Another Niemela rushing touchdown and one from fellow Hawk Jacob Reagan gave Hockinson the late 29-12 lead. Woodland was able to get one last touchdown from QB Adanm Shoup, however that was all the home team could manage as Hockinson wrapped up the 2A Greater St. Helens League Championsip with the 29-19 road win. Woodland did however lock up the 2A GSHL No. 2 seed due to a loss by Washougal at Mark Morris Friday night.
Hockinson improves their record to 6-2 on the season and 3-0 in league play with the win. The Hawks will host Washougal (6-2 1-2) Friday at Nautilus Field, 7:00 p.m. Woodland falls to 4-4 on the season and 3-1 in league play with the loss. The Beavers will host Black Hills (3-5) Friday at Woodland Stadium 7:00 p.m.
