After dropping 4 straight games, the two-time defending 2A Greater St. Helens League Champions found a way to pull out a last second victory at home. Mark Morris QB Seth Huhta it WR Ryan Littlefield from 22 yards out in the games final seconds to beat the visiting Washougal Panthers 14-7 at Longview Memorial Stadium. The visiting Panthers took the early 7-0 lead in the second quarter when QB Colton Sullivan threw a 27 yard touchdown pass to RB Karsten Short. Monarchs RB Nikko Asbell tied the game before the break with a 1 yard touchdown run. Asbell finished the game with 50 yards rushing and the one touchdown on 14 carries. Sam O’Hara led Washougal on the ground with 64 rushing yards and Sullivan completed 4 of 8 passes for 81 yards.
Mark Morris improves their record to 3-5 on the season and 1-2 in league play with the win. The Monarchs will play R.A. Long (2-6 0-3) Friday at Longview Memorial Stadium, 7:00 p.m as the road team. Washougal falls to 6-2 on the season and 1-2 in league play with the loss. The Panthers will travel to Hockinson (6-2 3-0) Friday at Nautilus Field, 7:00 p.m.
