Game Recap – Washougal 41 Hudson’s Bay 9

Washougal made a statement Friday night when they had little trouble with 3A Hudson’s Bay. They are for real, and a serious contender to knock off Mark Morris as the 2A Greater St. Helens League Champions.
The Panthers jumped out to a 20-0 2nd quarter lead with a strong run game. Hudson’s Bay keep it close until the 4th quarter when they entered trailing 23-9. However Washougal tacked on 18 more points as they won 41-9.
Panthers back Austin Tofell had 116 yards rushing on 19 carries and Caleb Howard added 98 more rushing yards on 11 carries and scored 2 rushing touchdowns. Sam O’Hara was held to 40 yards rushing on 9 carries but managed to score a touchdown and kick 2 field goals.
Emilio Alcantar scored the Eagles lone touchdown in the second quarter.
With the win Washougal improves to 1-0 on the season. The Panthers will host Columbia (0-1) at Fishback Stadium Friday 7:00 p.m. Hudson’s Bay falls to 0-1 on the season with the loss and will travel to Longview Memorial Stadium to face R.A. Long (0-1) Friday at 7:00 p.m.
