Heritage Swallowed Up In Black Hole As Kentwood Conquers The Timberwolves 57-14

Written by Bryan Levesque on November 6, 2010

Heritage snuck into the preliminary round of the WIAA playoffs with a 3-6 record as the 3rd place 4A GSHL team. Friday the #4 Kentwood Conquerors ran all over the visiting Timberwolves in a 57-14 win to advance to the playoffs.

Kentwood ran for 357 yards and scored just about any way you could imagine in the win. Mikell Everett led the Conquerors rushing attack with 163 rushing yards on 14 carries and 1 rushing touchdown. Kentwood scored via the run, the pass, returned a fumble for a score and blocked a punt that was ran back for a score.

Heritage trailed 50-0 in the 3rd quarter before QB Riley O’Dell got the Timberwolves on the board with his 5 yard run. After Kentwood answered the Heritage with yet another one of their own, Heritage RB Michael Rivers ran one in from 3 yards to give us the final score of 57-14.

With the loss Heritage falls to 3-7 on the season. The Timberwolves season is over.

Wow….Who would have thought Heritage would lose this game lol

Here are the typical lo-lifes who have no clue about our program!

Thank You for a great season Coach Becksted and your staff. We know the scoreboard didn’t come out in our favor as often as any of us would have liked, but the lessons you have taught the boys about hard work and staying together will last them a lifetime!!

Keep doing what you do and ignore the outsiders who look at the scoreboard as the only sign of success. 10 and 20 years from now, our boys will be in debt to you for your time and effort, while other programs will only remember the scoreboard and not the life lessons!!

We look forward to more success next year. One of the toughest schedules in the state and the 5th straight post season appearance!!

I agree with T-wolf dad it’s easy to kick someone when they’re alread down it’s always hard when it’s some of these boys last time playing football.

  4. nunya on November 6th, 2010 11:52 am

five years in a row that heritage has made it to the “playoffs” and five years in a row that they have been blown out. its time for change in the program.

  5. wsumj on November 6th, 2010 11:59 am

nunya didnt they win a game last year?

  6. KENTWOODFATHER on November 6th, 2010 1:02 pm

Great game. That heritage team showed a lot of heart my hats off to you guys

nunya last time I checked only Heritage and Camas had made the playoffs in 5 consecutive years. The might U or Skyview cant claim that. The school is 12 years old and before they started competing in league and winning games they where not even spoke of. I have a strong feeling that the 20 plus juniors on this team, 14 or so that where starters will be making a lasting impression next year. I cant wait to see my young Covington Colt be apart of this program.

  8. nunya on November 6th, 2010 1:13 pm

    lost to south kitsap

  9. T-Wolf Dad 2010 on November 6th, 2010 1:53 pm

Was anyone calling for Coach Eagle or Coach Holmens job at Camas when they lost every year in the qualifying round? I don’t think so, because the same things are happening here. Heritage took a huge step as a program this year, but unless you were at the games or know someone inside the program, you wouln’t know. Like I said, the young men in this program are getting more from Coach Becksted than any other program in the area or possibly the state!

Keep looking at the records, but you’ll miss what is really going on.

Everyone, just stop already. Let’s just congratulate the young men for fighting hard every week and sticking together and leave it at that. That is really all that is needed. Good luck to those seniors who are moving on and thanks for all your hardwork!

how about that o line for union? there not to shabby and handled that d line quite well

  12. wolffan on November 7th, 2010 7:22 am

You just don’t get it. Is your kid one of last years seniors? You would sit in the stands and yell at Grayson and th coaches for not throwing the ball downfield even though he was running for his life. Look this program has made the post season 4 years in a row (not 5), and Camas is the only other school around that can say that. My kid loves coach becksted and is thankful for the experience he got. Most kids who buy into the team attitude over there have a great experience your must not have. I bet I know who yours was- maybe a wr who did not get the ball enough according to you. This program is fine they are making the post season every year and competing with the best teams in our area. When my oldest went through they were lucky to not get blown out every game. So you did not like the program- your kid is gone now so go away.

umm the reason why the U cant say they made 5 years to the playoff in a row is because they have only been open for 4 years smart one. and heritage is lucky that there is only five teams in 4A or else they never would have made the playoffs with 3 wins. but i can say o’dell will have a good year next year,

  14. UO 1 on November 7th, 2010 9:13 am

nunya is just a hater, has no friends to he posts on here to feel improtant! Please Ignore his posts!!

Great year Heritage, build on your experiences and take it to Union and Skyview next year!!!

  15. MVHS Athlete on November 7th, 2010 9:24 am

Union has only been able to make it to the playoffs 4 years…and they did it 3 times.

  16. victory on November 7th, 2010 10:49 am

I have a question: How many teams in the State did not play a post season game? Any team that has made it to a post season game has my respect!

  17. MVHS Athlete on November 7th, 2010 11:13 am

Yea heritage shouldnt of even gone. think about it last year the gshl had 6 teams and 2 draws. this year 5 teams and 3 draws? Heritage was the winner of the losers and didnt deserve this game

  18. victory on November 7th, 2010 11:31 am

mvhs Athiete….. If Heritage did not deservr the deaw, who did? Our maybe you think the draw should have been given back to the State!

  19. fbseasonfan on November 7th, 2010 11:33 am

Geez – what a terrible thing to say and how negative do you have to be on this site ??? Heritage was there because they had enought wins, period ! Congats to Heritage – keep your heads up high ! Don’t listen to the haters… See ya next year…

  20. MVHS Athlete on November 7th, 2010 11:46 am

Maybe a team from up north. no team with 3 wins deserves a playoff draw though…seriously

Very proud of you Heritage ! You are all great young men. This was a hard loss, but for you Seniors > move on with pride in your hearts.

  24. HHS Athlete on November 7th, 2010 12:10 pm

MVHS athlete, im pretty sure you beat us by one point after we had a two touchdown lead. we lost to skyview in overtime. we beat grant. our record does not show how hard we played. and im pretty sure your out of the playoffs jus like we are so you arent as good as you think. no one needs to hear your opinion about other schools.

  25. GSHL Football Fan 2010 on November 7th, 2010 12:49 pm

MVHS, you criticize HHS for their record – yet how does a team loose when leading by 21 going into the 4th quarter? You shouldn’t throw stones in a glass house

  26. wolffan on November 7th, 2010 1:32 pm

Why hate on us- we did not pick on you during your 4 year post season drought, or the 3 years in a row we beat you. You had a good season and for the most part (besides you) MV football is a class act.

  27. HTW on November 7th, 2010 8:24 pm

MVHS- If you think Heritage doesnt belong in the playoffs (which they do) you might want to look at Nathan Hale High School first. They got beat in the playoffs this week 72-7 by Capital!!!!!! Now THEY probably should’nt be in the playoffs.

  28. HTW on November 7th, 2010 8:25 pm

    Correction 73-7

  29. HTW on November 8th, 2010 11:28 am

There are alot of teams in Washington that got beat worse than Heritage.

  30. MVHS Athlete on November 8th, 2010 2:10 pm

In the 4a though? and im sure there were some pretty good teams that didnt get a chance either. I think they need a new system in getting teams in with better records…strength of schedule…all that good stuff instead of taking some teams that may not be deserving

  31. who dat on November 8th, 2010 3:35 pm

the way there is only 4 league games for 4a teams is not a good system. add more league games which would show which teams deserve to go on to the playoffs.

  32. Action on November 8th, 2010 4:51 pm

MVHS Athlete you really want someone to decide if your team gets in because of strength of schedule, are you kidding…. That is why Boise State is not going to play for a championship this year or last….By the way MT View only beat Heritage by 1.. So you really didn’t blow out everyone minus Prairie…Get the facts right…Heritage losses were to All teams in the playoff picture.. 5 of the 7 losses were to ranked teams….The other 2, Mt View and Mark Morris are good teams as well. Heritage didn’t play Fort, Hudson Bay, Prairie CR… MT View played 2 ranked teams…
This happens in the NFL as well. It is all in the division you are in. Would you hate to be in a league where your 7-2 didn’t make it because someone gave your spot to a 8-1 team they thought had a tougher schedule. Be careful what you wish for, this is one good year in the face of many not so good for Mt View.

  33. MVHS Athlete on November 8th, 2010 9:35 pm

First off boise state isnt deserving because of who they have played. second the fact that you guys would of played playoff teams helps your strength of schedule so i dont know why you are bashing that part. And third as of right now Mtn HAS to play all those teams. they have no choice. Oh and another tid bit mtn view went 5 and 4 the previous 2 seasons and placed 3rd in the league. But those were two years where with 6 teams in the league and only 2 playoff spots. So we got gipped because this year they leave the 4a and 3 teams make it. so the 3rd place team gets a spot.

Got something to say?
