Nice job Monarchs, I think you’ve got the rest of the season sealed up. Civil War game for sure 🙂 R.A. Long doesn’t have much of a chance.

The bottom line is when it comes to big rivalry games like the Civil War, it doesn’t matter which team has a better record or looks better on paper, both teams fire on all cylinders and play at their best. This will be one of those games and could be one of the greatest games played in the GSHL this year. I can’t wait to watch this one.

    atta boy jake moe!
mmfan123 and steve don’t understand football.
RAL won’t be the favorite, but they surely do have a shot at winning the game. We all know that MM is gonna pound the ball behind their beasts, but MM’s secondary is weak. Lets see if Yordy and the Jackies can pick apart MM’s defense.

It’s so fun to watch the little guy’s bicker, Cmon one of the greatest games in the GSHL please… maybe heritage -Skyview or maybe Union-Camas but RAL-Mark morris, please folks, let’s try and keep a little reality in the back woods

  11. mmfan123 on October 14th, 2009 10:11 am

    “Little guys”

Please, I think you can give Mark Morris and RA Long a little more credit than that. Just because it’s 2A doesn’t mean they aren’t good. I Also wasn’t aware that RAL had a WAY better coach than MM. But alright. Best wishes to both teams..GO MONARCHS!

Back woods or not every one should be entitled to an opinion. I enjoy reading about the whole ghsl from top to bottom and that does not mean if your 1a or 2a you’re the bottom. jake moe try to be polite in your opinions or comments of others it shows your ignorance

The Longview-Kelso schools rivalry games have what the Vancouver schools lack; long history, deep tradition, and support from the whole community. Plus this game has added hype because it will most likely determine the 2A league tittle.

football is football- and good a good small town rivalry is what it is all about. Just ask the state of texas. Most texas football is not that high level, they just love it so much is what makes it huge.

  15. Jake moe on October 14th, 2009 11:34 am

what ever franklyspeaking i just get fire up sometimes during high school football season. i’m from longview i know my sports around here my is brother is going to be in the 9th grade next year at r.a.long and yordy has a brother comeing to r.a.long next year. too so just get off my back about who better at football this year. mark morris is just all about basketball every year.

  16. expert on October 14th, 2009 2:02 pm

will an Ra Long fan please tell me how there gonna stop mark morris? They “created” 5 turnovers against woodland and still managed to give up 34 points

  17. Just Sayin' on October 14th, 2009 8:24 pm

GSHL Fan….Heritage vs. Skyview….really? There goes HHS again, giving themselves WAY too much credit. You haven’t proven anything to anybody. Most points allowed in GSHL & your going up against a high powered offense…do the math! Pretty sure you got beat by a ‘little guy’ this year. Please get over yourselves!

  18. Ace on October 14th, 2009 8:52 pm

expert.. the Jacks did create 3 out of 5 of those turnovers and you can’t compare how RAL did against Woodland to how MM played them… that’s ridiculous. Bottom line is that its the Civil War and teams will always come to play when its a rivalry game. Can you tell me how MM is gonna defend RAL’s offense? It should be a very high scoring game, but jeeez you people think MM is going to make it to the dome or something. Haha…. goodluck!

  19. Union Dad on October 14th, 2009 10:10 pm

    Hey ” go dawgs”
Obviously you haven’t caught a Union/Camas game. it is not always the length of a tradition but the intensity, now I am not saying you boy’s don’t have traditions and rivalries, you do, but give us our due. Get back with me and I will take you to the Union/ Camas game, arguably two of the best teams in the GSHL, yes we are not the mighty 4A ( oh that’s right we beat all of them, and heritage , we had to institute the mercy rule), we will be next year, but still good teams and I would stack our support against any one anywhere, Last year this game packed Mackenzie stadium, think it is foolish to try and fit all the fans into Doc Harris, but this WILL be the game of the year, with two very good teams that take on all takers .
So come on down, be my guest and I will show you great football, traditions (although new), and support that you have never seen at a game before, (unless you go to the Titans or Papermakers games)
Good luck to all in the GSHL. A better league makes everyone better top to bottom.

  20. Union Dad on October 14th, 2009 10:16 pm

As far as MM and RAL I will check the schedule, and come check your boy’s out, good football is good football, does not matter if the school has 500 or 5000 kids.
    Good luck

  21. Go Dawgs on October 15th, 2009 12:04 am

    Union Dad
I believe Camas v Union will be the game of the year, and I have seen both teams play live and I do give them full credit because they are two of the elite teams in the area. I’m just saying the Civil War game will be one of the many great games played in the GSHL this season, especially now because it will most likely determine the 2A title. And you’re right, good football is good football regardless of the classification.

  22. Shane Brady on October 15th, 2009 9:22 pm

WOODLAND ALL THE WAY. (even though we got killed by MARK MORRIS) Our team has alot of heart and pretty good athletism… in the civil war im routing for R.A long but The Monarchs are probably gonna knock them out..

  23. steve on October 15th, 2009 10:14 pm

woodland passes better than ral. mark morris’s weak secondary shut them down. plus if you dont have the ability to get the ball off, you can put anybody in the secondary. and man ral sure went crazy in last years rivalry game… tehe
