Mark Morris Wins Civil War 21-7 Over R.A. Long To Claim 2A GSHL Title

Written by Bryan Levesque on October 31, 2009

R.A. Long jumped out to a 7-0 first quarter lead when Lumberjacks QB William Yordy hit J Nusbaum on a 49 yard TD pass. That would be all the scoring on the night for the Jacks.

Mark Morris added a TD in each of the next 3 quarters for the 21-7 win. 3 different Monarchs players scored, Colton Carpenter, Jeremy Wolf, and Travis Kinder all added rushing TD for Mark Morris.

With the win Mark Morris improves to 8-1 and 5-0 in league play and captures the 2A GSHL title. The Monarchs will play the winner of a 5 team Tuesday mini play off on Friday/Saturday.

R.A. Long drops to 7-2 and 4-1 in league play. The Lumberjacks will host Tumwater Friday/Saturday in the preliminary round of the state playoffs.

GREAT GAME!!! Both teams were able to showcase their strengths. Longview should be proud of both their teams. The stands & field have never been so packed or so enthusiastic. Look for big things in the future from both of these programs. Congrats Monarchs!!

I think it was a great game. RAL should be proud. Need to work at running more to sustain those drives when Yordy stuggled. That would take the pressure off and help boost his confidence in his teammates.
