As spring practice comes to a close, what are your initial thoughts about your team?
Coach Hyde – We are a young team with a lot of Soph.’s and JR’s. Very talented in the skill positions and return 6 on offense and 5 on defense. This group has a tremendous upside with good young talent and returning upperclassmen. Our focus right now is to keep working as team and not as individuals, we competed very well at camp because of our team first mentality.
Who are 3-4 of your returning players from last year’s Varsity team?
Coach Hyde – SR- Hayden Lucia 0L / DL 1st team all league at DL, SR -Tyler Nelson OL / LB 2nd team all league at LB, SR – Kyle Wiley,RB / LB,SR – Derrick Riddle OL / DL
What players were not on the Varsity last season who you expect to be impact players this season?
Coach Hyde – JR – Garrett Prestwich, LB, JR – Dylan Axtel, OL/DL, SO- Colin Seitz,QB, SO – Ansel Cecil, WR / DB, JR – Avi Slifer,WR / DB, SR – Nick Wiseman, OL – LB
About how many players are you expecting to turn out in the fall?
Coach Hyde – We will see between 100 -110 players grades 9-12
What are your goals as a team for the 2009 season?
Coach Hyde – To get better each week, compete in every game and earn 1 of the 3 play-off spots.
