Lendale White, It's obvious that they were a combination of tenacity and leadership to the titans but I don't think that you or anyone else should say that it's "IMPOSSIBLE" to re-load players of their talent. IT'S POSSIBLE. Anything is possible and unfortunately you haven't had the blessing of learning that yet....BUT you will. You will.

Glad you said that you're point wasn't to attack Tafoya, because that wouldn't be the best way to handle anything. You should be encouraging ALL players on the team IF you really do indeed want the best for this team and want them to truly have an unbelievable season. So.....what is your next blog going to be about? "Go Tafoya?...I hope you do a great job and GOOD LUCK this season....we're behind you??" Even if that is NOT what you write....you should support the team on these blogs and NOT bring anyone down.

Thanks!

Its obvious that you have no idea what you're talking about when you say that Tafoya is one of the leaders of the team. But you need to re read if you think my point was to attack Tafoya. What I am saying is that it is not so easy to replace two of the best cornerbacks in the area. Don't get me wrong I wish Union all of the best and hopefully they will have another unbeleivable season. But Coad and Homer were special players that brought a combination of tenacity and leadership to the Titans, its impossible to simply reload players of thier talent.

Union Fan,

I will address you first since I agree with you. I am not taking anything away from the fact that Coad was a phenominal athlete along with Homer. These players will be greatly missed...I think by the team and the fans. They took Union High to a place that we had not been yet and for that I think everyone is happy. (That's on Union's side anyway!!)

I also think that leaders (no matter who they are) establish the vision for the future and set the strategy for getting there; they cause change. They motivate and inspire others to go in the right direction and they, along with everyone else, sacrifice to get there. The point is..I think Tafoya has the vision and he is a leader. I think he is inspiring to others on the team and this year ....there will be change. Taking us to the CHAMPIONSHIP!

“One secret of leadership is that the mind of a leader never turns off. Leaders even when they are sightseers or spectators, are active; not passive observers.” Even while Tafoya was on the side and being subbed as little as he was...he was active. He was observing and just waiting for his turn. Anyone replacing anyone else on the team this year and becoming more active on the field I think learned the fact that they had to become good observationalists first.

Lendale White --

You have a lot to learn about how things work. You'll see from this upcoming season. Are you upset that you can't play? What's your real issue here.....because all you are doing is attacking other people and "trying" to shatter their dreams. If I know the players ...like I know that I do...than I know that this year they are going to give everything they gave + some and you'll be writing a blog in the near future about how you were wrong.

Ha. If Tafoya was so good where was he on the all league list? Why didn't he start? Sure he may have subbed in when the game was well out of reach or when Coad needed a breather, but that is just like any other back up! None of those players are the caliber of a Coad or a Homer, if they were, people would already know about them. Neither Coad nor Homer got first team all league by default. They were the two best in the league. Maybe Tafoya will be the one to start next year, but youre kidding yourself if you think that he will be as good as either those two guys last year.

LOL! hey Lendale White.. funny thing is, I am an Athlete and a football player for Union and I played in the State Championship so don't start with me on not knowing on what i'm talking about i have far greater experience than you. we have Jake Tafoya who can replace him Tyler Coad which subbed in and out with Tyler Coad. And we have Dashon, or Anthony. Thankyou. So I think i know my team greater than you do so stop with this. They can fill there shoes but may not be the playmakers but they can fill there shoes and do thier job as well as they did.

I don't know who you are "Union Fan." But players like Homer and Coad cannot be replaced just like that. If you are a student at union, which I am assuming you are... I am interested in hearing who you think can fill either of their shoes. The REAL funny thing is people like yourself who have no idea what they are talking about.

Columbia River - DB/WR Rob Caballero <--5'8"
Heritage - WR/DB Ashlton Clark <-- 6'0"
Fort Vancouver - OL/DL Jeremy Girod <-- 6'1"
Evergreen - DL/OL Ashton Miller <-- 6'2"
Camas - WR/DB Guy Varsek <-- 6'5"
Heritage - OL/DL Steve Forgette<-- 6'5"

Looks to me like only Caballero is under 6'0" on the above list.

Also, I think Football Freak was refering to the AP All-State Team, NOT the 3A/4A All-Star Game.

As for the 4 DB's who were 1st 3A All-State,

Ronnie Hamlin, sr., Timberline <-- 6'4"
Jamal Atofau, sr., Bellevue <-- 5'10"
Nolan Washington, sr., Kennedy <-- 5'11"
Riley Wall, sr., Capitol <-- 5'9"

So all of them are taller than Dex Homer is. Well Wall is the same height, but 20lbs heaver and I believe, reading the posts around the title game, that Atofau was paid by Bellevue to pay so...
